It has been 1 month since the opening of Portuguese restaurant “Casa da Andorinha”.

Portuguese egg tarts are also popular in Japan (200yen); good for take away.

6 kinds of desserts are served. A soft sponge cake ” Pao de Lo” is 400yen, and a no milk pudding “Portugalia pudding” is also 400yen. Tax is not included.

The restaurant's name “Andorinha” means "swallows" in Portuguese, which is a symbol of happiness, and is located right by the eastside Naniwa-suji Street. The store area is about 60 square mater, there are 7 seats at the counter, and 18 table seats are available.

The owner Yuji Ikue is from Shizuoka. He felt a sense of familiarity with Portuguese dishes where seafood is frequently used, and has been studying in Tokyo and Osaka for many years.

They serve home-style dishes. Dried salty cod “bacalhau” and ”Cataplana” is cooked in a local copper pot. Also egg tart for dessert!!! The owner says, ”I want to recreate the local taste which is why I avoid adding Japanese style arrangements."

We've had people who love Portugal, and Portuguese folks who live in Japan come to our restaurant in search of local Portuguese dishes. Ikue-san says, "I want to spread the taste of real Portuguese cuisine in Japan."

Open from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, and from 5:30 to 11:00 pm. Closed on Sundays.
